Day 31...ahhh
Oh spaghettios.
Today I was busy with school and job stuff and the project completely slipped my mind. As an apology, here's a purty picture of me in front of crown shaped garden near the Queen Mary, Long Beach, CA.

Day 28, Gloriosa Lily
Painted this today using mega watery acrylics! It's not finished yet, but I have to go to work now. :P

Day 27, Crochet olay!
Me and my crochet hook. Good friends sometimes, bitter enemies others. When it's good, it's good, but then my fingers cramp and i forget to count my chains...and I throw the yarn aside and do something else :P
Anyway, I tried to follow a tutorial for making crochet flowers and it was a disaster. The lingo boggles my mind and I'm too lazy to learn it :P
Maybe when I am a bit more patient. But this was quite relaxing and even though simple, I'm quite proud of it because normally it's a disaster. :P It's kinda cute...

Day 26, change for a flower?
I have a busy day ahead of me and plan on passing out into dreamland when I get home tonight, so here you go...Trust me, it's a flower :P
It's a total of $3. 71
It seems like a lot more huh?

Day 25, watercolors :)
Ooh I found a picture of a zamfir coreopsis in a flower magazine I had and gave it a go with this set of watercolors I have never touched before :P I had never seen or heard of this flower before, but it's pretty badass.
All I have to say is watercolors are awesome. I'm not the most patient painter, but I gave it a whirl. :)
One picture with flash, one without...the colors look different in them :P

Day 24, lovely
I was in a romantic mood tonight ;) So I drew this...inspired by some song that always gives me nice memories. I suck at drawing hands, but I think this is pretty decent because I was in a drawing mood.

Day 22, Ribbon rose
I tried a few of these, and this one turned out the best. This is really simple...it's just a ribbon turned at right angles to make a rose. I was inspired by the hundreds of mini ribbon roses that someone gave to me when they were cleaning out their garage. :P
I can't wait to get more ribbon and try to make more. They're really pretty when they turn out right.

Day 21, put a rose in the coconut and shake it all up!
So, I'm thinkingggg.....
Maybe I should pick up one of them 365 day guide books because as the days go on and my life becomes busier, thinking of a craft each day is becoming harder :/
Anyway, I made this (fake-)flower arrangement in a coconut (the coconut shell is real) before I get dressed for work! YAY I love coconuts. Everyone should have tons of coconut shells sitting around. I know I should.
I also love spanish moss.

Day 20, Embroidery zwei
My second attempt at machine embroidery. I'm a little addicted. I have been playing with the machine trying to figure out thread tensions. Anyhow...I made this random flower embroidery today.
I need more thread colors asap :/

Day 19, Ooh Flashy!
Ooh la la CD art :P
I love how these look differently in different light settings. So I took a picture with flash and without.

Day 18, Emroidery
So I have never embroidered before, so I decided to use my machine for some embroidery fun! Kept it simple...a rose bud. It looks a bit crazy, but I'm proud of it for my first try!

Day 17, More felt !
Yet another cute felt project inspired by the tutorial on This Website . <(click it)
This is apparently a poppy? Well, our poppies in California don't really look anything like this :P
But this is so cute. It's a felt flower with a clip to put in your hair.
Aw...cute, eh?

Day 15, MAKE IT RAIN!
I had a busy day and honestly I'm too lazy and tired to put on my crafting cap :P
So I followed the 365 guidelines and today I was supposed to use money as inspiration. So here is a flower from my money tree.
It was crossbred with a Canadian tree I guess because its center is a Looney (a canadian dollar, cute huh!?)....special Vancouver Olympics 2010 coin too! o0o0o0

Day 14, Applique!
So, two things!
One, I did a simple project today... a flower shaped applique on a totebag I use for dance class.
Two, I finished that shirt that was in this post (CLICKY!)
What you see here is the final version :P Just a simple summer top.

Day 13, Lace & Fabric flower
Ooooh pretty, eh?
I saw a fabric flower on a purse and got inspired! I experimented with a few folding techniques until I got something really similar. I love it!

Day 12, Felt Rose
Ooh so I found this and a bunch of other cool tutorials and ideas at http://factorydirectcraft.com/
Really simple felt flower that you can just pin to whatever and it looks cute!

Day 11, Bead Flower
I gave up on following the directions for the 365 day challenge :P
Anyway today I made a little flower decoration out of beads and wire. It looks kind of fall-themed.

Day 10, MAKEUP!
Finally, right? I had a very busy day. So I did what's easy and fun. Makeup :) Okay...this is some random flower. Next time I do it I'll model it after a flower that exists in nature. :P But it was fun.

Day 9, More origami!
So I wanted to try some more origami today. I made this lily.
Hopefully I'll have more supplies and inspiration soon so I start making some more interesting things!

Day 8, Flowery Shirt
The rules for today were to transform a book. I cringed when I read that. Last year in my 3D design class one of the projects we had to do was transform a book. A week later I had a golden ladder leading to a flying saucer. Um anyway...I absolutely hated the book transformation project and was unwilling to do it again. But I had this pretty soft fabric from an old skirt and I made a halter top out of it. I haven't done the straps yet because I couldn't sew anymore for the day. But other than that here it is. I know...it looks like a block of fabric :P I will take pictures of it on me when it's finished and update you!

Day 6, Bone Flower
Why, yes! That is a real chicken bone! And no, I have no idea what you would do with this. But that's what happens when I craft...
Today's guidance was to use the first piece of fruit you saw. Well, however much I'd love to make an edible bouquet for you (maybe later in the year!) the only fruit I had was overly ripe oranges and that sounded sticky and lame to me.
So I went browsing through the stuff in my craft room and I found some fabric scraps and some leftover bones from last year's attempt at a witch-doctor costume :)
And voila!

Day 5, Shells
I believe today's theme was something you collect. I collect shell beads.
Okay, I admit this is lame. But it was one of those days. :P
Tuesday, January 4, 2011
Day 4, Can tab blossum!
So today's theme was supposed to be go take a walk and use materials that you find. Well, I didn't feel like taking a walk because there are 6 inches of snow on the ground and I didn't want to play with snow :/
So I was thinking and I always see cans in the forest when I go for walks, and I have a bucket of can tabs. So why not?
Here is my can tab flower with a Smirnoff cap center :)
This was a pain in the ass. I had to wire wrap it.

Day 3 Paper!
So after snooping around other peoples' 365 day project blogs, I discovered that today the theme is supposed to be something made with paper, not using scissors, glue, and can't be a drawing. So, I decided to do some origami because I saw a tutorial on it a few weeks ago. I tore out two pages from my 2010 calendar and went to work on this tulip :)
Tutorial can be found here: http://www.origami-fun.com/origami-tulip.html

Day 2, Coloring Time!
Saturday, January 1, 2011
A purple sculpted rose!
My first craft for January 1st. A rose made from polymer clay painted purple (the paint looks sloppy because it was still wet...I was impatient and wanted to get the photo over with :P)
Intro
One of my resolutions for 2011 was to make an art or craft project every day of the year with a flower theme.
Happy New Years...let's see if I can accomplish this! :)
